The Gratitude Rewire

If you have ever been told to be grateful on a day when you had nothing left, you already know why most gratitude advice fails. Handed to you as an instruction, it becomes one more thing to fail at.

So this is not that. There is no part of this journal where you list three good things and cheer up.

Gratitude, done honestly, is a form of attention — a decision to look closely at your own life instead of past it. It can be uncomfortable. It is often quiet. And it changes what you notice, which changes what you find.

Where it takes you:

  • Noticing — what is already here, and has become invisible through familiarity
  • Reckoning — the harder gratitude: what you lost and are glad to have lost, what hurt you and changed you
  • Returning — what you carry off the page and back into an ordinary Tuesday

You’ll leave with: the sense that what you have is enough — and enough is the ground you have to be standing on before anything more can come to you.
