If you have ever been told to be grateful on a day when you had nothing left, you already know why most gratitude advice fails. Handed to you as an instruction, it becomes one more thing to fail at.
So this is not that. There is no part of this journal where you list three good things and cheer up.
Gratitude, done honestly, is a form of attention — a decision to look closely at your own life instead of past it. It can be uncomfortable. It is often quiet. And it changes what you notice, which changes what you find.
