Know What You Want

There is a particular tiredness that comes from running from something for years without ever deciding what you’re running towards.

Ask most people what they want and they’ll tell you, fluently, what they don’t want. No more of this job. Not another relationship like that. All of it true — and all of it useless as a direction, because “away from here” is not a destination.

What makes it harder: much of what you think you want was never chosen by you. It was inherited. From a parent, a culture, or an old version of yourself who wanted things you outgrew years ago but never formally resigned from.

This journal clears out what was borrowed, and then makes you say the thing plainly.

Where it takes you:

  • Clearing the borrowed — what you should want, and exactly who told you
  • The evidence — the clues you’ve been leaving about yourself for years
  • The ask — naming it, in writing, and signing your name underneath

You’ll leave with: permission. You were never short of the answer — you were short of permission.
