Set the Intention

You already know what happens to most intentions. Set with real feeling on a Sunday evening, quietly abandoned by Thursday — and you conclude, again, that you are simply not disciplined enough.

Here is a kinder and more accurate explanation. You were not undisciplined. You were unclear.

An intention that hasn’t been made specific has nothing to hold on to. It floats. And a floating intention is indistinguishable from a wish, which is why it behaves like one. This journal never once asks you to try harder. It asks you to look more closely — because clarity does the work that willpower was never able to do for you.

Where it takes you:

  • Naming — what you actually want, in one sentence, with no justification attached
  • Choosing — what it will cost, what you’ll stop doing, and what you’re genuinely willing to trade
  • Living it — the smallest action that makes it real, and what you’ll do on the day you don’t feel like it

You’ll leave with: a direction you keep, instead of a resolution you abandon.
