Stuck is a strange place, because from the outside it looks like nothing is happening. In fact a great deal is happening — all in the same spot, at considerable cost, with nothing to show for it.

Two things worth knowing.

Being stuck is almost never a failure of effort. It’s far more often a collision: two things you want that can’t both be true, quietly cancelling each other out. You are not lazy. You’re pulling in two directions at once, and you’ve been doing it long enough to stop noticing the strain.

And stuckness is usually protecting you from something. It’s a strategy, not a malfunction. That decision made sense once. It may not any more — but you won’t be able to put it down until you’ve found it.

So this journal doesn’t push. Pushing is what you’ve been doing for months.

Where it takes you:

  • Naming it — describing the fog precisely enough that it becomes a thing with edges
  • What it protects — what staying still lets you avoid, and what you’d have to give up if it resolved
  • The smallest move — not a leap. One move, today, small enough that you can’t argue with it

You’ll leave with: one move, taken. That is how stuckness ends — never dramatically.
